Garden In Bloom – Catalog CASE

My mission is to always try and make simple cards!  I found this card on page 139 of the Annual Catalog and set about to recreate it!  In case you missed it, (CASE, Copy And Share Everything)

Of course, I don’t have the Blooms and Wishes stamp set, yet!  But I wanted to challenge myself to use something in my collection that would be similar.  I had to make a baby card and don’t have any of the baby stamps!

139The flower from Blooms and Wishes was similar to the flower from Garden in Bloom.  Don’t be afraid to check out your collection of stamps to see if you have something that would work.

I also grabbed my Banners For You stamp set as that had some leaves and dots that were perfect for the look I was trying to achieve.  The Congratulations On Your New Arrival came from the Better Together stamp set.  Check that one out because there are sentiments for many special occasions.

Make Your Own Paper!

Make Your Own Paper!

Have you ever wanted to make your own Designer Series Paper, but you weren’t sure where to start? This simple and easy technique has been around for a long time.

blue-cChristine’s Tips:

  • You could start with a piece of neutral cardstock, 3.5″ x 4.5″, to make one card.
  • If you wanted to stamp a larger piece, just use an 8.5″ x 11″ and stamp away.
  • Stamp off of the edges to achieve the texture that you want.  Here I used Penned and Painted for a watercolor look.
  • You can use just about any stamp set.  Mixed it up a bit and use solid images along with line images.
  • Keep your colors to a maximum of three.
  • Use darker ink for smaller images and lighter ink for larger images.

Today is the day!  The Occasions Catalog and Sale A Bration go LIVE!

Stampin’ Up! Butterflies Thinlit Dies

Butterflies Thinlits and Fluttering Embossing Folder

The Butterfly Thinlits makes for a quick and easy elegant embellishment on any card.

Butterfly CongratsOne of my favorite NEW products in the Occasions Catalog is this nifty tool called the Big Shot Die Brush!  Let me tell you, this tool is a genius!  While I love intricate designs, I do not like poking all the little pieces out of the die.  This tool makes it easy!  Do you remember the video that I shared a little while ago?  Details here, just in case!

For a little stability on the backside of the butterfly, I added a solid butterfly cut out from another framelit in the collection.

Using the flower from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Trio, I punched two flowers, adhered them together and added a rhinestone.

Adding a little Wink Of Stella to the butterfly really adds a nice shimmer without the mess.  The brush tip is perfect for writing or adding a subtle controlled glitter to your projects.

That “Congratulations” is from the Balloon Celebrations stamp set.  I love it and it fits nicely in the banner framelits from the Number of Years Bundle.

What To Do With Those Scraps!

What To Do With Those Scraps!

We all have them!  Yes, we do!  LOTS of scrap pieces of papers that we just can’t seem to part with.  We end up throwing them into the pile, some big, some small!

In case you didn’t know…?  Stampin’ Up! includes a list of all the colors from that Designer Series Paper pack.  It is easy to find what you need on a moment’s notice.

ButterflysAre you looking for some creative ways to use your scrap pieces of paper?

Here are 10 ideas to help you get started!

  1. Punch some paper using your small punches.  Make confetti!
  2. If you are a scrapbooker, punch small pieces and use them as embellishments and accents for your pages.  Remember your cards as well.
  3. If you have pieces that you can cut into 3 x 6, use them to make gift tags and/or cards.
  4. Line your envelopes using Stampin’ Up’s! Envelope Framelit.
  5. Shred some of it and use it to add to your super cute little boxes made with the Stampin’ Up! Gift Box Punch Board!
  6. Do you have the Big Shot?  Die cut letters using any die for your cards or scrapbook pages.  Make a alphabet garland using a large alphabet and coordinating printed paper.
  7. Are you into Mixed Media?  I am!  I love to create using leftover Designer Series Paper.  Check this out!
  8. Easter is coming!  If you set a table, make some napkin rings with your Spring paper.  Use it to add a seating tag!
  9. You can make small bows using Stampin’ Up’s! Bow Builder Punch.  Small patterns lend themselves to this idea! This one is pure genius!  Check out this video!
  10. Get creative for your kitchen.  Make some labels to organize your pantry items.

What other ideas do you have to use your paper scraps?!

Stampin’ Up! | Grateful Bunch | Best Wishes Card

Don’t you just love it when Stampin’ Up! pairs a stamp set with a punch, framelit or die?!  Ugh!  I really don’t like cutting out images if I don’t have to, so it makes my heart happy to have those little extra tools handy.  This wonderful little set is bundled together for a 15% discount.

Oh Darn!  I forgot to add the Petite Pairs to the Stampin’ Supplies list!  No worries!  Lots of great sentiments to use for just about every occasion.

Notice the little butterfly next to Best Wishes?!  I thought the card needed a little something and when I was going through my stash of stamps, believe it or not, that little image just jumped out at me.  That image is part of Flowering Fields which is a Sale A Bration Set!  There are some adorable images from that set.  I can’t wait to break out the rest of the flowers and play!

Bloomin Love Congratulations

Bloomin Love Congratulations Card

The other day while surfing the web for the NEW 2016 Pantone Wedding Color trends, I came across this graphic that I thought you might like to see.  I took the liberty of adding the Stampin’ Up! color that I thought closely resembles the Spring Color Choice for 2016.

What do you think?  I pretty good match?!

2016 Wedding Colors

The card below uses the NEW Bloomin Love Stamp Set from the 2016 Occasions Catalog!  I am pretty sure that Stampin’ Up! gets it right each year with the trendy colors.  I turned this card into a Congratulations card for a newlywed couple for their wedding.  Even though this set is primarily for Valentine’s Day, make it versatile and use it for birthday, just because or even thank you.  Just change out the sentiment!

Bloomin LoveI added some pearls for a simple and elegant look.  Sometimes it is just the little things that add so much to your creation.

Below are the filigree hearts done in the Pantone 2016 Wedding Colors of the Year!  Look how gorgeous they are!  If you know ahead of time what the wedding colors will be, then perhaps one of these cards would be the perfect gift to the newlyweds.

Grateful Bunch and Timeless Textures

Grateful Bunch and Timeless TexturesTimeless TexturesI really like to have fun with stamp sets that resemble a mixed media, perhaps even a grunge look.  I like them because they force me to step outside of my comfort zone.  If you have not, give it a try sometime, but don’t be frustrated.

For this card, I used both Timeless Textures and Grateful Bunch Stamp Sets.  The best part is that the Grateful Bunch stamp set comes as a bundle with the Blossom Bunch Punch.  Yay!!! I am always up for coordinating products!

insideThe Occasions Catalog is gorgeous!  I am having so much fun with the products! If you wanted to see samples from more products, you can see them here on my Facebook Page.

Celebrate Your Day!

Celebrate Your Day!

Do you like to experiment with stamping techniques as much as I do?  Anytime I come across a card in the store (think printed cards), the wheels in my brain immediately start turning.  When no one is around in the store, I will take a picture if I think I won’t remember what I saw.  Who can relate to that?!

Christine’s Tips:

  • Start at the bottom of the cardstock with the darkest color.
  • Begin in the middle and work your way outside to the edges.
  • These odd shaped circles are from the Layered Alphabet Stamp Set.  Since they are odd shaped, turn the circle slightly each time you reink and stamp.

Masculine Brushstrokes!

il_570xN.812318020_gf10Christine’s Tips:

  • I used the Basic Gray marker on this card.  We don’t sell it separately, but perhaps you can use Smoky Slate which can be purchased on its own.
  • For masculine cards, keep it to a neutral color palette.
  • KISS-Keep It Simple Stamping for men.
