Less Is More…

Masculine Lovely As A Tree Card Idea

Lovely As A Tree

Going through Fall without at least a card or two featuring Lovely As A Tree would be terrible and this stamp set just begs for a masculine themed card.  This set has been around a long time and I believe, it is the oldest stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! catalog!

Your Stamping Teacher Tidbits:

  • Stamp the strand of trees in the background with Crumb Cake.
  • The focal point is the black grouping in the front.
  • Simplicity is key to a masculine card.
  • I never get tired of Lovely As A Tree.  My very first stamp set.
  • My cardstock choices are Baked Brown Sugar and Early Espresso

Old Meets New!

Lovely As A Tree!
Lovely As A Tree

Your Stamping Teacher Tips:

  • Using one of the images from Work of Art, I stamped in Soft Suede and re-stamped without re inking two more times to create an ombre look.
  • Embossing the tree with black embossing powder makes it POP!
  • Oops!  I noticed a little tear on the left side.  Sorry about that!
  • I suppose I could have kept it to a clean layer, but I added a little dimension by lifting the birthday sentiment up and making a banner.

Ikat Masculine!

Are you always searching for masculine card ideas for the men in your lives?  For many of us, it is a challenge with all the flowers and feminine stamped images out there.
One of my favorite kinds of cards to create is a very simple manly card and let’s face it, Eye Catching Ikat works perfectly for this kind of project.

Ikat

Your Stamping Teacher Tip:  Keep the elements on your card simple.  While guys always appreciate your thoughtfulness, they just don’t like a lot of “stuff” on their cards.

Magnificent Maple!

Good morning, Stampers!

When I got home yesterday, hubby was in the yard with his chainsaw, when it hit my like a ton of bricks!  Today’s card would feature that super cool Birch Paper Ribbon in the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit!

If you have been following me for any length of time, you know I LOVE to make masculine cards.  While feminine cards are usually pretty easy, it is the masculine ones that seem to stump most folks.

I was thrilled to receive the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit for FREE!  Thank you Stampin’ Up!   I am hosting Thanksgiving this year, so you can imagine that I intend to put most of the pieces in the kit to good use.

 Magnificent Maple

Check out the texture of the Birch Paper Ribbon!  How much more manly can you get?!

Your Stamping Teacher Tip:  Keep your masculine cards simple and plain!

Below is a photo of the contents of the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit!  I have a few other ideas for cards, however, since the kit makes enough for 10 dinner guests, I will have to wait until I know the exact number before I dig into the other elements of the kit.

Faux Sanding Technique

Do you like the Core’dinations Cardstock, but don’t like all the dust from the sanding?!   I’m with you!

I created this super easy and unique technique using Stampin’ Up’s! Whisper White Craft Ink and Stampin’ Sponge to create a beautiful card that will shine alongside the distressed and eyepopping look of the Core’dinations Cardstock.

Faux Sanding TechniqueYour Stamping Teacher Tip:  Be sure to start off lightly with your Whisper White Craft Ink.  You can always add more, but you can’t remove it.

Gorgeous Grunge Thank You!

Happy Friday!

I have found that the Gorgeous Grunge has become a GO-TO stamp set when I want to add something to the background without overwhelming the whole picture.

Have you ever sat in front of your card and thought it needed something more?!  I think this set completes the puzzle.

Washi Grunge

Your Stamping Teacher Tip: When making a simple collage piece use a variety of textures, dimensions and color!

Simple Saturday

Is it Saturday already?!

The weekend is here and I have a Simple Saturday for you today!  Magnificent Maple is on my radar on this VERY cool morning here in Connecticut.  Definitely feels like Fall.

So with that, I decided to make more of a neutral look using Sahara Sand and Early Espresso.

Stamp your maple image with Sahara Sand onto Very Vanilla cardstock and add the sentiment of your choice in Early Espresso.  Punch using your 2 1/2″ circle punch.  Along the left side of your Very Vanilla cardstock stamp the maple again three times.

Finally, ink up your maple image with Early Espresso and stamp between and overlapping the Sahara Sand images.

Magnificent Maple
Your Stamping Teacher Tips:

  • Sponge the edges of your punched circle image with Early Espresso for added dimension.  Then use Stampin’ Dimensionals to make it pop.
  • Keep your sentiment on the small side.  You do not want to overwhelm the beautiful maple image and its details.
  • Stamp the maple image off your cardstock, so that it partially peaks out on the corners.

Simple Saturday!

Simple Saturday is back!  At least for now!

If you would like to see it return as a weekly feature, please leave a comment.  I do have to moderate the comments, but I will get it and post them.

Very simple, quick and easy!  Even better, only two colors.  Very Vanilla and Basic Black!

Today’s sample features the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper, the Hexagon Punch and a sentiment from Sketched Birthdays that I received at Leadership this past January in an all attendee giveaway.  I used the Itty Bitty Framelits to knock out the Happy Birthday!

Black and White Modern Medley

Your Stamping Teacher Tip:  While this sample could be used as a masculine card, if you turn over the Designer Series Paper pieces, they have  feminine designs on the reverse side.

Modern Medley

You simply can’t go wrong with this classic two-color combination, that is totally trendy and timeless!

So go grab some Very Vanilla Cardstock, Black ink and stamp away.  I guarantee, you will have fun, while keeping it simple.

Happy stamping…..

Christine
