Simple Saturday

Last week’s Simple Saturday card turned out to be so popular that I have decided to keep this segment active with this week’s card.  In a recent Stampin’ Success, Stampin’ Up’s! Demonstrator magazine, there was a card showcasing the reverse masking technique.   This technique is fun and simple, yet packs a BIG punch!

Simple Saturday

Your Stamping Teacher Tip:  When making a mask, use copy paper or some other thin paper.

This is a great way to add depth or illusion and is perfect for a Clean & Simple card.  Below is a close up of the butterfly embellishment and how it is attached.  Try it today!

Simple Saturday Close Up

I decided to add a quick video on the reverse masking technique.  Hope you enjoy it and let me know what you think?!

Simple Saturday

You can create a very simple and beautiful card in minutes! When you have no time and just want something that is a complete WOW!, think of a small background stamp, a die cut embellishment, perhaps a button and a sentiment.  Sometimes, “less is MORE!”
Sweet EssentialsI stamped the small background with my Beyond Plaid herringbone image and used my Little Leaves Sizzlet die with Sahara Sand card stock.  Yes, folks!  Those are the NEW brushed nickel designer buttons! (129325)  They have larger button holes, perfect to accent with ribbon or thread.

Your Stamping Teacher Tip: Keep your creation quick and easy by keeping the colors to a minimum like a neutral and white card stock.

Bitty Butterfly Punch and Spring Catalog Product Shares

The NEW Bitty Butterfly punch, from the Spring Catalog, (#129406) coordinates nicely with the Elegant Butterfly punch from the Annual Catalog on page 184.   Just think!  The only stamping involved was the Best Wishes in the lower right corner.  I wanted to keep it as simple and duplicatable (is that even a word?), as possible.

Ice Cream Day!!!!

Wikipedia:National Ice Cream Month is held in each year in July in the United States. Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month in 1984.[1] He also named the third Sunday in July as National Ice Cream Day. Reagan recognized the popularity of ice cream in the United States (90% of the nation’s population consumes ice cream) and stated that these two events should be observed with “appropriate ceremonies and activities.”

Ice Cream Day is celebrated December 13th as well. TWICE A year to enjoy your favorite frosty treat!
Which leads us to:  What is your favorite flavor of ice cream or ice cream recipe?Fabulous Friends

Since I don’t have a favorite recipe, I will share my favorite flavor.  Yup! Just plain straight vanilla. Why? I like the simplicity of the flavor and the ability to add whatever you want on a whim. I know! I know! Many would say it is boring, but, when I go to our local, farm creamery, there are just too many choices. So, I stay simple!
