Nature Inspired Vintage Leaves

Natured Inspired Vintage Leaves!

Nature plays a BIG part when I try to think of a card design!  When I take a run in the morning on our local Rail Trail, the beauty of all the green leaves inspired me to pull out this versatile set, called Vintage Leaves.  The best part is about this set is that it is paired with a set of framelits called Leaflets!

Green LeavesChristine’s Tips!

  • In case you are wondering about the Happy Birthday!  I grabbed it from a NEW stamp set called Feather Together!  I first stamped the Happy Birthday onto the white cardstock in Archival Black ink.  Kind of nearer to the left side of the piece of cardstock.  I wanted to leave room for the popped up leaf on the right.
  • Using two pieces of post it notes, I covered the Happy Birthday and stamped the leaves across the top.
  • Then I did the same thing for the bottom.
  • I then used Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set to add the little black dots.
  • I stamped a second leaf in Pear Pizzazz, die cut it and popped it up.
  • All the leaves were done in Always Artichoke, Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive.
  • Be sure to stamp your envelopes.  It truly adds a special touch

Birthday Blossoms-Stampin’ Up!

Birthday Blossoms-Stampin’ Up!

There is nothing better than a hot and humid day to make me hole up in my studio and create! The best part of summer? No, not really but I get to do more creating at this time than during any other time in the year.

Garden Of BloomsOne of the things that caught my eyes in the Annual Catalog was that nifty background stamp called Brushstrokes!  LOVE IT!  The color combinations on the stripes are ENDLESS!

Christine’s Tips:

    • Brushstrokes can be colored using your Stampin’ markers.  Color each stripe in coordinating colors.
    • The ink splatters from Gorgeous Grunge are so versatile.
    • Adding a POP of color with Watermelon Wonder is perfect with Sahara Sand.

Happy Gorgeous Grunge!

Happy Monday Morning to all! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

It is no secret that I have come to adore the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set, both for it’s versatility and ease of use.

Who would of known that blobby things, lines and dots would make me happy in my minimalistic and uncluttered world?!  Are ALL those official words?!  And the best part of this card was the fact is was so quick and easy!

Today’s card colors are picked up from the I Am Me Designer Series Paper and not to detract from the overall design, I kept the sentiment simple from the Label Love Stamp Set that pairs with the Artisan Label Punch.

Magnificent Maple and the Reverse Masking Technique.

I am back again using my NEWEST acquisition, the Magnificent Maple.  I wanted to create a Fall themed card without using the traditional colors of the season.

While I was at it, I used my Window Framelits to create that gorgeous masked background in Old Olive.  Then I took my Gorgeous Grunge and my Magnificent Maple leaf and stamped over the background.

Thank goodness it’s Friday!  I can just smell the weekend, it’s so near!

The weather this week was absolutely gorgeous, however, this weekend is not supposed to be all that great.  No worries here!  On those days, I do not feel guilty spending time in my studio, whiling away my time cardmaking, scrapbooking or papercrafting.

How about you?!  How do you  spend your time when the days are not so great outside?!  Drop me a line.  I would love to hear from you.

Today’s card is pretty simple.  This month, my clubs and classes  focused on the Magnificent Maple Stamp.  I paired it with the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set and the Perfectly Penned for a terrific masculine sided Get Well.

Magnificent Maple with Burlap Ribbon
Notice in the close up that I used the NEW 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon.

Your Stamping Teacher Tip:  Be sure to use lots of glue dots to adhere the Burlap Ribbon.   Burlap is usually quite heavy and this is no exception.

I don’t know about you, but I tend to use glue dots in many of my projects.  I just don’t want to have my creations fall apart in the mail.

Happy Monday Morning Tidbits

Happy Monday to all of you!  I hope you all had a wonderful, restful or fun filled weekend!  The usual array of weekend activities took hold for the first part of the weekend.  On Sunday, we went to the Great Josh Billings RunAground.  It is a BIG triathlon in the Berkshires that has been taking place for many years.

For a long time, my husband, brothers, and sister in law would participate as a team in the 1990’s.  However, over time, many of us have had to bow out of this yearly event.

My youngest brother picked it back up a few years ago with some co-workers and they have been participating as a team.

This year, my brother tried it out as an Ironman!  So proud of him!  He came in 6th overall in his age group of over 40 for the Ironman.  He had some equipment issues early on, but managed to make a great finish.  It is a grueling course which has a 27 mile bike ride, 5 mile canoe paddle, and a 6.2 mile run.  Want to know more?!  Check out the site here.

Way to go Bobby!

Now, I am pretty sure you came here to see today’s card.

I call it my version of Collage Stamping.  Not familiar with the Collage Stamping Technique?!  It is where you stamp multiple layers of images over one another.  While this technique is not for everyone, I experimented with with different sets from Stampin’ Up!  I took larger and smaller elements and different coordinating colors to

Collage
With the weather starting to change around here, I decided to keep with the traditional colors of Fall.

Your Stamping Teacher Tip:  Add dimension to your sentiment to make it POP!  Collage Stamping can look flat, so be sure to use Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Collage Close Up Your Stamping Teacher Tip:  Always have fun and don’t worry about the look.  Remember, each technique will produce different results with each stamper.

If you have any questions, with this technique or anything else you see here, please drop me a line.  I always love to hear from you.

Enjoy your Monday…

Off The Grid

I can’t seem to put these two stamp sets down.   Off The Grid and Gorgeous Grunge pair so well together that one would think they come together as a set.

One easy way to design a color scheme is to use Basic Black and Whisper White, plus any combination of the primary colors of Real red, any of Stampin’ Up’s! blues, and any of Stampin’ Up’s! yellows.

Off The Grid
Your Stamping Teacher’s Tip:  The punch is the Artisan Label punch and coordinates nicely with the small oval punch.
