Sheltering Tree

Sheltering Tree

apple-birthdayThis all purpose set can be changed for each seasons, just by either by stamping or using seasonal Designer Series Paper.   Let us talk about the Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper.  It can take you into Fall even though it has a summer feel to it.   The Happy Birthday is from the Fresh Fruit Stamp Set in Soft Suede.

Christine’s Tips:

  • Since Sheltering Tree is a Photopolymer Stamp Set, be sure to use the Piercing Mat underneath while stamping to get a crisp and clean image.
  • Keeping to Fall theme, I used only Soft Suede and Pear Pizzazz Ink, taking my cue from the colors in the Designer Series Paper.
  • I cut the Whisper White layer at 2.75″ x 3.75″ and layered that onto a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock measuring 3″ x 4″.
  • As always, when I have horizontally designed cards, I cut my cardstock lengthwise on the 8.5″ side for a side folding card.

Geometric Clean and Simple!

Over the last month, I have showed you a several ways of using the Geometrical Stamp Set and Bundle.    This layout is quite clean and simple and when you pair it with the sentiment of your choice, you have one knockout of a card.

Over on my Your Stamping Teacher Facebook Page, there were additional samples as well.

Best of all,  this card can either be  masculine or feminine.  The month of January  provided lots of inspiration with this wonderful and versatile set.  As an additional idea, keep the black cardstock layer and ink, change out the triangle colors!

Your Stamping Teacher Tip:  All Stampin’ Up! Bundles are listed on the right side of my website.  Be sure to check out the offerings both in the Annual Catalog and the 2014 Occasions Catalog.

Best Of Simple Saturday

Yesterday over at my Facebook Page,  I asked the burning question, “Would you like to see Simple Saturday return?”  Many of you emailed me directly and said, “Heck! Yes!”

As we transition to 2014 and close out 2013,  I decided to post some of your personal favorites along with mine in a round up of Simple Saturdays.

I have included a link to the original post so that you can enjoy and read about that card idea!

Do you remember, Beyond Plaid?

Even though this retired from the Spring Occasions Catalog, think outside the box and use any background stamp of your choice.

It even has a masking technique that I think you will enjoy!

Happy Gorgeous Grunge!

Happy Monday Morning to all! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

It is no secret that I have come to adore the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set, both for it’s versatility and ease of use.

Who would of known that blobby things, lines and dots would make me happy in my minimalistic and uncluttered world?!  Are ALL those official words?!  And the best part of this card was the fact is was so quick and easy!

Today’s card colors are picked up from the I Am Me Designer Series Paper and not to detract from the overall design, I kept the sentiment simple from the Label Love Stamp Set that pairs with the Artisan Label Punch.

Your Stamping Teacher Tips:     Try cutting the Basic Black cardstock  at 1/8″ instead of 1/4″ to minimize the edges.

Magnificent Maple and the Reverse Masking Technique.

I am back again using my NEWEST acquisition, the Magnificent Maple.  I wanted to create a Fall themed card without using the traditional colors of the season.

While I was at it, I used my Window Framelits to create that gorgeous masked background in Old Olive.  Then I took my Gorgeous Grunge and my Magnificent Maple leaf and stamped over the background.

Simple Saturday!

Simple Saturday is back!  At least for now!

If you would like to see it return as a weekly feature, please leave a comment.  I do have to moderate the comments, but I will get it and post them.

Very simple, quick and easy!  Even better, only two colors.  Very Vanilla and Basic Black!

Today’s sample features the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper, the Hexagon Punch and a sentiment from Sketched Birthdays that I received at Leadership this past January in an all attendee giveaway.  I used the Itty Bitty Framelits to knock out the Happy Birthday!

Black and White Modern Medley

Your Stamping Teacher Tip:  While this sample could be used as a masculine card, if you turn over the Designer Series Paper pieces, they have  feminine designs on the reverse side.

Modern Medley

You simply can’t go wrong with this classic two-color combination, that is totally trendy and timeless!

So go grab some Very Vanilla Cardstock, Black ink and stamp away.  I guarantee, you will have fun, while keeping it simple.

Happy stamping…..

August Thank You Card

Happy Monday morning, everyone!

Like you, the weekend is always half busy and half relaxing and this one was no exception.  I love to take the time during the summer to garden, check on the hives, and believe it or not, shop the farmer’s markets for organic produce and look for local  sources of grass fed beef, chicken, cheeses, breads….etc.  But, I also like to bake fresh biscotti and pick and cook the goodies from my garden.  I guess you could say that I am somewhat of a homebody.

Yesterday morning, the hubs and I took a bike ride through the Rail Trail here in Monroe.  The best part of this ride is that you can take it all the way down to Trumbull and back, roundtrip for 14.5 miles.  We have been doing this most Sunday mornings and to tell you the truth, the earlier we get out the better, since it makes for some very quiet time.  It is a nice break from my usual exercise routine.

Today’s card is totally Gorgeous Grunge with Four You.  It is my August Thank You card and it is yours if you place an order with me during this month.  The best part about this card is it is gender neutral.  Switch out the Thank You for Happy Birthday and you have a terrific masculine card.

Gorgeous Grunge Thank You
Up close you will notice the 7/16″ Trim, a burlap inspired ribbon made of flax and cotton.  I love the earthiness of this ribbon, don’t you?!  I just took a piece of it and folded it in half,  tied some linen thread around it and attached with glue dots.  (You don’t want your embellishments falling off your card, right?!)
Colors used were, Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar, Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla.

Look for the hostess code when placing your order for the month of August.  You can find it to the right under hostess code.  Be sure to use by the 28th of each month for the chance to earn hostess benefits!

Bouncing Circles!

I had a moment of inspiration when looking at the I Am Me Designer Series Paper and thought that punched circles would be the perfect embellishment!

I like to focus on card ideas that are quick and easy and not fussy.  So when I punched out a variety of circles using the colors from the Designer Series Paper as my color coach, it was easy peasy!

This card idea truly makes for a fun and delightful birthday wish for the young at heart, or the just plain young.

Circle PunchStack, off-set, and line them up!  Your choice!  Be creative!

Circles are the staple punches in Stampin’ Up’s  line of punches.  Be sure to order the  different sizes for layering!

Your Stamping Teacher Tip:  Use the colors from the Designer Series Paper to guide you in your choice for colors that coordinate.

Flower Shop Thank You!

Customers will many times ask me, “Which stamp sets are versatile?”  My thoughts are, if it has a punch or a framelit those would be my go-to!  Now,  I am not saying that all sets are like that, however,  in this case, Flower Shop is on my list.

I featured this stamp and punch during the month of June and it was widely applauded.  Not only by me but customers as well.

In this example, Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana were used as the main colors.

Flower Shop

If you notice in the close up, Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe flowers were added along with some rhinestones.

And to round out the 2013-2015 In Colors for this card, I used Baked Brown Sugar for the sentiment.

Flower Shop

Thank you is from the Four You Stamp Set!  Another great set with four sentiments that are occasion friendly.

A new term that I coined to let you know that there is undoubtedly other choices in sentiments.

Simple Saturday

Happy Simple Saturday!

After yesterday’s storm here in the Connecticut, I thought I was going to float away with all the rain we had.  As I am writing this Saturday morning post, the sun is FINALLY making an appearance and it feels so good!

Since I am awaiting my NEW Annual Catalog order to arrive, I wanted to show a very quick and simple card today using your markers, punch and some designer series paper.

Do you want to see more of Simple Saturday?  Let me know what you think of this weekly feature!  I would love your feedback!

The birthday sentiment from Delightful Dozen works well with our 2 1/2″ circle punch.  I used the This and That Epic Day Designer Series Paper.

Delightful Dozen
