Big On You! Stampin’ Up! Mother’s Day Card!

Big On You! Stampin’ Up! Mother’s Day Card!

I happen to adore BIG font and words on a card.  Pssst!  I also love a good font to download onto my computer, too!  This set from the Occasions Catalog caught my eye and pairing it with one of of my all time favorites, Summer Silhouettes, makes for a stunning card.

The Tuxedo Black Memento Ink has become my go-to Black Ink for any card that I make.  No smudging!  Honestly, when I am in my studio, one would think a bomb of ink went off.  This little baby is perfect for people like me who have ink on their hands constantly.

And, here is the inside of the card!

InsideThis card turned out even better than I ever imagined and I created another one similar to it only with a different color combination.

Have you ever reached for something in your studio only to find out you don’t have anymore of it?  (Insert expletive) NO BLACK CARDSTOCK?!  I actually couldn’t believe I ran out!  But, alas, I found a piece of 12 x 12 cardstock and it saved the day!

Mixed Media Mojo!

Mixed Media Art!

Sometimes the best way to way to get your creative juices flowing again is to go in a different direction.  Art is a VERY personal and intimate process.  Now!  I am NOT saying I am an artist. however, any of us who thrive on daily creation, would agree that all our pieces are works of art.

Many of you know that I adore clean and simple projects with easy lines and geometric shapes are my passion.  But periodically, stepping outside one’s own comfort zone, releases an energy that is beyond words.  Let me begin by saying that working in Mixed Media is NOT for everyone!  I guess the winter blues have taken hold and I needed the help of the sunshine to bring about this piece.  So, off I went into my retired Designer Series Paper stashes and pulled out LOTS of So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and even Tangelo Twist!

This piece is an 8″ x 8″ canvas that was easy to begin and complete.  Starting small is the key!  Trust me on this one!  In January, I got a Silhouette Cameo and have been playing with it.  You’ll notice that on the left is some retired paper cut out into the stems and leaves.  Yes, that is an element from Cheep Talk (circa 2009 Annual Catalog) now in digital form that I cut out with my Silhouette.

The Butterfly Thinlits in the Occasions Catalog came in handy as well as Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set that are current.  I used modeling paste colored in Real Red and the Hearts and Stars Decorative Mask from Stampin’ Up!  You simply gotta love the Project Life journaling pens to outline all the papers and images.
